Ages 12-15. This 10 day outdoor adventure and environmental stewardship camp explores the changing environment and how this connects to a most basic and delicious part of our lives - food! Activities include backcountry & yurt camping, hiking to a glacier and alpine ridge, berry picking (eating!) and preserving, learning about salmon fishing & smoking salmon, exploring edible plants, campfire cooking & gourmet s'more, and getting in the kitchen and garden with local chefs and farmers! Includes 3 overnights at the yurts of the Peterson Bay Field Station, 1 night campout at Kayak Beahc with hike of Grace Ridge, 2 days at the Kasitsna Bay Laboratory, and 3-day backpacking trip around Glacier Spit & Grewingk Glacier Lake.
Cost: $850 per person. Price includes all boat transportation around Kachemak Bay, food, and lodging.
Includes only first day of a multi-day program.
