May 21-23: The Origin of Kachemak Bay: shifting plates, glaciers and coastal ups and downs

Featuring field trips, lectures and discussions with local experts Ed Berg and Taz Tally as they team teach this informal "course"

Inlcudes special sessions on landscape photography and kayaking

Cost is $750 and includes a 2 nights and 3 days at the exclusive Kachemak Bay Wilderness Lodge, all meals cooked by thier chef and served family style, transportation across Kachemak Bay and an opportunity to learn while you vacation to one of the most beautiful and interesting spots in Kachemak Bay.  Register for the course here.

June 1-3: Alaska Coastal Ecology (with 1 credit option available for teachers through University of Alaska)

Featurig field trips, lectures and discussions about the amazing intertidal and forest ecology of China Poot Bay with local expert Debbie Tobin on marine vertebrates and invertebrates and others (TBA) on marine algae and the rich cultural history of the area.  See for yourself what thousands of students have discovered during thier spring field trips to the Peterson Bay Field Station while enjoying the luxuries of the Kachamak Bay Wilderness lodge.

Leave the Homer Boat Harbor at 1:00pm Friday June 1st and return at 2:00pm Sunday June 3rd.

Teachers taking the course for credit will have an opportunity to explore lessons and activities from the new Alaska Seas and Rivers Curriculum and see how the use of science notebooks can be incorporated and enriched through outdoor education experiences.  Click here to download a flyer.
