Kachemak Bay Coastwalk

CACS has sponsored this unique community science and stewardship program since 1984. Citizen volunteers adopt a section of the Kachemak Bay shoreline and walk it annually, surveying changes, collecting data on marine life and human impacts, and cleaning up beach litter and marine debris. Download the program brochure here: CoastWalk Brochure.

The 27th annual CoastWalk was a great success, with over 7,000 pounds of marine debris collected! This year's CoastWalk theme was Plastics in Motion! We began this year's cleanup on September 8th and featured a recycled circus! Please see our new tools available in the ICC section for more details on CoastWalk data. Sponsors include the Ocean Conservancy, Project AWARE, and NOAA's Community-based Marine Debris Clean-up and Prevention Grant Program.
