The Center for Alaskan Coastal Studies Washed Ashore Homer Project

The goal of this project is to work with local artists, school groups, and community members to create large scale marine debris art to promote awareness of the local and global issues associated with marine debris. In order to keep from accumulating marine debris in our landfills and to achieve the maximum possible public understanding of the amount and type of marine debris found on our beaches, the Center for Alaskan Coastal Studies will strive to use 100% of the non-toxic debris found during CoastWalk cleanups in the next year.  To accomplish our goals we are working with Angela Haseltine-Pozzi, the founder of the Washed Ashore Project and Executive Director of the Artula Art and Education Institute, to create large scale interactive marine debris in Homer.

Take a look at our wish list for the workshop!
